What the HaydenShapes site says about The Shred Sled Grom:
‘The Shred Sled Grom model is a fish design tweaked as an all-round board, aimed at the younger demographic of surfer. It has been scaled down from the traditional Shred Sled model, designed for junior surfers who are progressing or simply for the young experienced surfer who is after a fun performance design.
The unique outline allows a full plan shape, yet a wide round tail is positioned behind the wing to give plenty of performance and curve to fit into all types of waves.
The foil has plenty of volume, yet it is shaped to allow the board to sit in the wave face creating a very smooth, connected feel. The wing breaks this connection and water flow to give response and release when required.
The Shred Sled Grom is a versatile design and is generally ordered a few inches shorter than the traditional shortboard.’
What people are saying about it:
“This board is essentially a performance wave getter for squirts, a scaled down version of Hayden’s shred sled, ideally for a surfer under 110 pounds. It borrows a lot of the aspects of the modern fish. There’s very little rocker up front and plenty of extra width in the nose, because let’s face it, catching more waves is a lot more fun. But it’s definitely not a soft-top slug. This thing is made for a grom to progress on — that bumped wing near the tail makes for high-performance turns and allows a straighter outline near the hips.” – Jon Coen on espn.go.com
“It didn’t take too much to get used to the board, it’s really plug and play. I noticed that the FF tech is really buoyant and light, which was a surprise since my greatest doubt was in volume. Gets into waves easily and paddles well, about the ride, I can only speak for myself and my ability level, but it’s really user friendly and allows me to do some progressive surfing. Tight turns, surfs well in the pocket, HOLDS wave size really easily as long it’s not too choppy. Top to bottom turns are kinda awkward, since I’m not getting the release I get from my other boards, but maybe it’s a fin problem.” – SpiritRev on SurfMag.com
“The Shred Sled, I would say is a great board for again, surfing those days where it’s head high, overhead. Even up to double overhead, I surf it just under double overhead at a big point right off the coast and it work really well. I know a lot of people really like this board.” – Benny on CompareSurfboards.com

“That’s not weird, that’s a method air.” – Lonnie Morris on Facebook.com/HaydenShapes
