What the HaydenShapes site says about The Ando Grom:
‘The Ando Grom model is a performance shortboard designed for groms, suited to riders from 25 -50kgs or 44 – 110 lbs. The model is ideal for helping to further and develop youth surfing ability and works best in everyday waves.
The entry rocker is flatter than your average shortboard, creating more paddle power and generating more speed and drive from the front foot. There is medium lift in the tail to allow the board to fit in the wave when surfing off the back foot.
There is a medium single concave which blends into a medium double concave within the single which transitions into a vee double out the last 3” of the board to give a nice release.’
What people are saying about it:
“The Ando Grom is the tweaked ‘youth’ version of my signature all round shortboard. It’s got a really clean outline and flows really good when putting it on rail and releasing off the lip. It all kinda works. My 5’9 shortboard with the standard round tail, is how I like to see myself surf.” – Craig Anderson
“I’m an Ex-Skateboarder. This is the board I’ve been looking for the whole time I’ve been surfing. I’ve ridden a bevy of seconds and store bought performance and fish models. However, nothing compares to my inaugural custom shaped performance model from Haydenshapes – The Ando. There’s no other way to describe it apart from being my Magic Carpet Ride! Through each top turn/hit, it allows me front foot grace to draw necessary speed into the next turn to re-approach the lip again and again. The finesse and suitability of this design has allowed me to progress my ability and massively enhance my style in a short space of time.” – Mark on BoardCave
“If you’re in the market for a board, you’ll be hard-pressed to do better than Haydenshapes The Ando or Hypto Krypto.” – Silicon Beach Surf
