What the DHD site says about the Switch Blade:
“The DHD Switchblade is your complete all-round performance small wave shortboard. Light and manoeuvrable that performs well in all conditions. This model is usually ridden shorter and wider. More volume has been added to the tail to help with speed through ‘dead sections’ when surfing. The Tail shape is still the same performance tail but has been slightly pulled in by a 1/16th of an inch improving turning. Moved the wider point 1” forward which has streamlined the outline making it smoother in the shape. Like most of our 2016 Double Concave models we have slightly reduced the concave — I have found that in the super small waves they suck to the face too much which helps from catching the rail in turns.”
What people are saying about it:
“Paddles really easy into waves and is fast… but I thought it was a little bit stiff if compared to the Double Shot. Keep in mind that my Double Shot was a 5’10” and the switchblade was a 6’0”.
I’d recommend the Double Shot, unless you want it to be your daily driver… the Swtichblade will hold more size and steepness. It may not feel as stiff if you order it shorter.” – brukuns on Surfer Mag Forum
“I would recommend the Switchblade over the Double Shot. The D/Shot is more suited to 1-3 ft and less powerful waves as it is wider in the nose and tail area. The Switchblade still has enough foam and area under the chest area to provide great paddle, but also has a narrower plan shape to allow for more hold in 3-5 ft +. The Switchblade is fast and responsive and would make a better all -rounder than the D/Shot. Cheers!” – DHD Surf
“The DHD Switch Blade is a great small wave option with the extra width offering natural speed and a little extra paddle in small surf.” – Board Cave Australia
