Campbell Brothers Mini Merk Review

What the Campbell Brothers site says about the Mini Merk:

‘The Mini Merk is a performance shortboard with dimensions more akin to the mid 80’s to early 90’s. If you are looking for shortboard performance, but would like more foam, this might be what the doctor ordered. The Mini Merk has mild nose rocker and a trim beaked nose. This makes for a great paddling, speedy short board. It is primarily a thumb tail, but can be ordered with squash, round and swallow tails. The Mini Merk utilizes the Bonzer 5 fin system. The board Rob Machado is riding in the Chile film clip is a mini Merk.’

What people are saying about it:

“The Mini Merk is basically designed to be a shorter, wider, and slighter thicker performance short board. It also has a little less entry/nose rocker than most contemporary short boards. It is reminiscent of the contemporary shortboards of the mid 80′s to early 90′s.” – Mollusk Surf Shop

“Personally, I’ve always wanted a mini-merk model. A 6’0″ please.” – user Archy_is_god on Magicseaweed community

“The mini merks look like a good higher performance shape.” – user havefuneveryday on Reddit

Nice. The Mini Merk looks fun, and more high performance oriented. Interesting that you can ride it in such small “waves too.” – user BurritoCon on Reddit

“…one of my personal favorites- the Mini Merk from the Campbell Brothers. From the top view, it looks like a normal shortboard, but flip that bad boy over and gaze in amazement on the bonzer set up. Normally I see bonzers in the 6’6″ to 7’6″ range but a 5’8″ would be a blast to ride. So much speed and flow. Awesome.” – North Country Surf

“The mini merk is my go to travel board. Anyplace any wave. 75% of the time it’s awesome.” – user acocumelli on Instagram

“I asked for the tail to be a little pulled in. I use it in good waves normally. Sick board.” – user fomtaz on Instagram
