Longboarding is a timeless art but it’s not really for everyone. Back in the 1960s, shortboards took over and it wasn’t until the 1990s that logs made a major comeback. That’s why it’s perfectly understandable if Kai Sallas doesn’t ring a bell.
Sallas is a Hawaiian pro surfer and a household name in the longboarding community. He is currently the 2018 ISA World Longboard Champion. And his style is the perfect mix of old-school tricks and high-performance surfing. One could even argue that no one comes close to how he surfs. The one-minute video below is a testament to his skills and the only thing that’s wrong with it is that it’s too short.
