Birubi Beach in NSW has been closed after a surfer was bitten by a shark Saturday morning.
According to authorities, a 31-year-old man was surfing in Birubi Beach near Port Stephens when a shark bit his foot. The surfer managed to reach the shore and was given first-aid by paramedics before he was taken to John Hunter Hospital.

Fortunately, his injury was not life-threatening and only suffered minor puncture wounds to his feet.
The species responsible for the attack has yet to be determined, as shark biologists will need photographs of the wounds for the identification.
