Scottish Coast Guard found a missing surfer after he spent more than 30 hours afloat in the ocean on his board in almost-freezing water. The surfer, identified as Matthew Bryce, 22 years old, left home Sunday morning to surf at West Port Beach. His family started worrying when he did not return home. A search party has been organized and it lasted until Monday night, around 7:30 pm.
Dawn Petrie of the Belfast Coastguard Operations Centre told The Sun, “Hope was fading of finding the surfer safe and well after such a long period in the water. He was kitted out with all the right clothing including a thick neoprene suit and this must have helped him to survive for so long at sea,” Dawn continued. “He is hypothermic but conscious and has been flown to hospital in Belfast.”
