The Vatican City, Sunday, May 29: Pope Francis becomes a proud owner of a Surf Board in a meeting he held for the Pontifical Foundation “Scholas Occurrentes”.
The meeting was the mark of the conclusion of the foundation’s world congress.
The foundation, based in Argentina, is an international project tasked to bring together educational networks and schools from different cultures and religious backgrounds.
Surf Resource Network was among the different groups that were honored during the event. It’s co-founders Daniel Hopkins and Sean Brody have brought along two surfboards with them at the event. They have asked the Pope to sign one of the boards and the other was given to the Pontiff as a gift, which His Holiness has accepted with much enthusiasm.
The Surf Resource Network is a non-profit organization that supports humanitarian efforts in Liberia. They are on a mission to help develop the communities in surf rich regions such as Libera. They partner with various organizations to raise funds, find volunteers and run sustainable projects that help improve the lives of locals in such communities.
