Leo Fioravanti Hospitalized After Huntington Beach Accident

Italian Surfer, Leonardo Fioravanti has been rushed to the hospital, Saturday July 23
after an accident during his morning warm up sessions at Huntington Beach. Fioravanti hit his head with his board after a failed aerial trick attempt.

Fioravanti’s Instagram post reveals he had 20 stitches on the head. He was directly hit on the left ear. It is still to be determined if the Italian surfer will be ale to surf in the Vans US Open of Surfing.

18-year-old Leonardo currently leads the World Surf League (WSL) Qualifying Series (QS) for men. He has shined this 2016 season with clutch performances and as a solid replacement in WSL Championship Tour (CT) Events. Fioravanti finished in 5th place at the Margaret River. It is critical for him to produce strong results at the Vans Open to secure a spot for the WSL CT

It is not the first time the Italian surfer has been to hospitals. He previously broke his back at Pipeline during the 2014-2015 winter season. He had to undergo physical therapy for months to be able to recover.
