The much-awaited Founders’ Cup concluded with Team World bagging the trophy. Team Captain Jordy Smith led his team to victory with a final score of 9.27; with the combined efforts of his team members Bianca Buitendag, Kanoa Igarashi, Michel Bourez and Paige Hareb.
It was a surprising result, as many expected the King to lead the win of the first nation-based event at his surf ranch. His local knowledge, however, wasn’t enough to lead Team USA to victory. His members, Carissa Moore, John John Florence, Kolohe Andino and Lakey Peterson still had fun at the event, though.
Team Brazil made it to the finals with their amazing turns and perfect tens. The combined efforts of Team Leader Gabriel Medina and members Adriano de Souza, Filipe Toledo, Silvana Lima and Taina Hinckel however, fell short, which led Team World to victory.
