Adriano de Souza has experienced and overcome injury before. That did not make it easier to watch when he recently hurt his right knee in Portugal and attempted to surf anyway.

It wasn’t clear how de Souza’s knee got injured. He was headed to the shorebreak when he fell in the water and signaled for help. Back on shore, the offending joint was wrapped and Adriano set out for round two.

When the pro surfer caught a wave, something was obviously wrong. In pain and unable to stand on his knee, he was aided out of the water again and pulled out of the event.

BlinkSurf wish Adriano a quick recovery and look forward to seeing him compete again.
