Great White Shark Headbutts Unknowing Diver in South Africa

During a dive somewhere off the coast of South Africa, a salvage diver had the surprise of his life when a shark appeared out of nowhere behind him. The whole encounter was caught on video by the diver’s son.

Mouth opened, a Great White approaches an unknowing diver.

Because the diver was facing the other way, he had pretty much no idea that a Great White shark was swimming straight towards him with its mouth open. Probably realizing the two were not food, the shark swam past the diver, giving him a headbutt – something to remember the experience by.

A somewhat similar thing happened on a different continent when a surfer surfed over a Bull Shark while trying to get footage of some dolphins in NSW. Thankfully, all parties involved in both shark encounters were unharmed but were definitely stunned by the incidents.

And though the video has yet to be verified with some saying it’s another “Great White Photoshop,” Drew Scerbo, a scientific advisor for the White Shark Interest and White Shark Advocacy groups, told Pete Thomas Outdoors that it looks legit. “Looks like the diver reaches up and pulls off a piece of his hood. Thank goodness for a 7-9 mm piece of neoprene, eh?” Scerbo explained.

What do you think – is the video the real deal or just photoshopped?
