The inagural QS1,000 Pro A Coruña came to a close at the secondary venue of play de Caion, with Jonathan Gonzalez and Ariane Ochoa emerging as winners.
First to kick off was the women’s final. All surfers have chosen not to sit out in the shore break like the previous heats but instead opted to sit out the back on the low tide bank. Ariane Ochoa (EUK), 18 has capitalized in the early minutes using a two-turn combo to establish an early lead. Most of the athlete’s scores were kept in the average with conditions only allowing fast-breaking short rides where only a few maneuvers can be executed. The Basque junior grabbed her first QS win ever in her career.
On the other hand, the men’s final was raging battle.
It was Jonathan Gonzalez (CNY), 35, vs. Jorgann Couzinet (REU)
The two contenders have immediately established their leads against the rest of their opponents by nailing solid 9-point rides each.
Gonzalez patched up his score with a good 7.17 ride. The Canarian Gonzalez has maintained his lead to seal the win, which is his second QS win this season next to his Zarautz Title earlier this Spring.
