What the T. Patterson site says about the Clam:
‘The Clam is designed for head high and below grovel conditions. The Clam has a single concave bottom that has no problem producing speed. A low entry rocker and low tail rocker and a fuller outline to allow glide over those flat mushier sections. The rails are medium full. Ride the clam a bit wider and around 1”-2” shorter than your standard short board. Works best as a tri fin squash tail. Perfect board for those days that its just not good enough to pull out the full blade and you need something to float over those flatter smaller sections without having to ride something to fishy.’
What people are saying about it:
“The Clam is a board made to get you out in the water when the waves are not firing but you still feel the need to ride a high performance shorty. The lower rocker, wider outline and the single concave keep this board fast and easy to paddle. The rails are on the medium full side to five you a little more float, stability and control when tearing into the face of a wave.
Best anywhere from knee to head high and a variety of conditions, the Clam is definitely the board to keep that spark alive in less than ideal conditions. Due to the outline and bottom contours, order this board 1 to 2 inches shorter than your traditional shortboard.” – Boardcave
“If you were to put this model in a class with other boards on the market, it would be right there with CI’S Neckbeard. You would ride it around the same size. It’s similar in outline and volume. But this is Timmy’s flavor. Can be ordered as either a deep swallow or a square tail. We recommend the deep swallow rather than a big square; This helps it pivot and feel lighter off the tail.” – Swell
