Misfit Shapes Diamond Dancer Review

What the Misfit Shapes site says about the Diamond Dancer:

‘The first of our 2016 ‘Modern Cloud Control’ Collection with an overall design emphasis on free-flowing, progressive shapes, the ‘DIAMOND DANCER’ is the highly anticipated follow up model to the cult classic ‘MERMAID KILLER.’

BOTTOM CONTOURS/ROCKER – The Diamond Dancer uses our unique “feeder” channel, running from the nose (minimal) to tail (more pronounced) to project water through the bottom of the board at high velocity. Additionally, there is a slight concave either side of the feeder, which combined gives the board incredible lift and a sensation of floating on top of the water.

The rocker is a flat continuous curve for speed but it also enables ease in paddling, with slight lift in the nose to allow for in-the-pocket positioning.

RAILS – Rails are a forgiving medium profile with a slight continuous edge underneath, which gives the board hold, yet incredible directional control and sensitivity.

OUTLINE – The outline is a curvier take on the MK with approx. 1″ more width yet a narrower nose profile, which gives an elliptical outline curve, what does that mean? Smoother transitions and better in-the-pocket control my friend. This curve, combined with a single flyer and favoured diamond tail, also lends itself to smaller wave conditions, but overall, this board is super versatile in anything up to 5-6 ft., it enables phenomenal free flowing rail-to-rail transitions, tight turning arcs and extreme directional control.

Ride short, ride hard, ride on.’

What people are saying about it:

“The 2016 Diamond Dancer is part of the Modern Cloud Control board release from Misfit Shapes. With a feeder channel moving through the bottom of the board combined with outside channels gives the board plenty of flow and speed down the line. The parallel rails offer more foam through the board offering more plane and float. If you like speed and control for progressive surfing the Diamond Dancer is a great selection.” – Boardcave

“Sweet board! Paddles great turns well super stable, a great all rounder!” – user Carl on Boardcave

“The DD is a radical pocket rocket that loves just that, the pocket but rails are parallel enough to wet a rail through a face turn right back into the pocket with speed to burn!” – user misfitkiid on Instagram
