Lost V2 Stub Review

What the Lost Surfboards site has to say about the V2 Stub:

‘It happens to most of us. We spend our younger years rallying against anything that stands in front of us, running rampant and causing chaos. Surf all day, rage all night and to hell with the consequences. But then society and, to some degree, conformity grab hold and tame our wild ways. Responsibilities rear and priorities pile up. Water time drops down, waist sizes inch up and life settles in. When you do get in the water, the last thing you need is more work, more grief and difficulty. Precious time in the brine should be fun and easy. It shouldn’t add to life’s stresses and struggles. To help make every hard earned and precious session a success, we bring you the “Domesticated Series”: Generous volume boards designed for having a good time… in your free time, and free you from the drudgery of everyday dealings. Minimalistic curves and design elements that allow you to capitalize on and control that extra volume to your advantage, both in the lineup, and most importantly, on the wave….translating into higher waves counts without sacrificing surfing performance on those waves. That’s what The Domestic Series is all about …good times, fun and easy.’

‘A wider, thicker, flatter, fatter, fuller, faster, floatier, funner, freakishly fantastic prodgetic-ly paddling step down version of the V2 Rocket. The nose is flat, full and wide, the Rocker is lower overall and volume is generously distributed further into the rails and farther out to the nose and tail; So ride it a couple inches shorter, and a good ½ wider, than a Rocket or V2 to get that great “Rocket” feeling in even smaller, more crowded junky waves. Shown here in “E-Technologies” EPS and SuperSap Epoxy, with mosaic bamboo inlay deck and resin tint bottom. All V2 Stubs are designed with 5 fin options.’

What people are saying about it:

This board was glassed at the HydroFlex shop in southern California. It’s a “Natural” (PU) using the highest quality epoxy resin available. The quality and durability is ensured by the use of certified fiberglass with the strongest weave on the market. This board received an APEX II glass job. APEX models boast a supreme strength-to-weight ratio, meeting the demands every day riders. The APEX II presents the best of both worlds to surfers looking for lighter, high strength, high-performance boards.” – Tropical Blends

This board will work really well in a few different applications. For the diehard Rocket fans out there – and this is a HUGE group of people – the V2 Stub gives you a very familiar hybrid feel with extra juice for small, gutless surf. The other place this board will excel is giving the high performance shortboard crew a concave designed mega groveler that isn’t extreme in width. ” – REAL Watersports

What stands out most to me is the V2 Stub’s stability. It’s reminiscent of Al Merrick shapes in that it wants to finish a maneuver…even if you botch it.” – User waterbaby on Swell Info

V2stub will favor front foot rail drivers that like to teeder back on the back foot to turn.” – User retodd on Surfer Magazine

High performance surfing in small to medium waves. The V2 Stub is an easier surfing version of the popular Lost V2 Rocket that is focused more on everyday conditions. The V2 Stub has a little less nose and tail rocker than the V2 Rocket and a bit more width and foam.” – Boardcave
