JS Industries Flying Pony Review

What the JS Industries site says about the Flying Pony:

‘The Flying Pony is a progression on the original Pier and Show Pony.

I have re-distributed the volume of the Flying Pony, adding more foam under chest to give you even better paddling speed and reducing the tail area with double flyer’s to give you more drive and release. It has a flatter deck, a slight down rail to maintain sensitivity, a deep single concave under the chest which runs into a slight double concave through the fins and finishes with a light rolled vee out of the tail.

Flying Pony comes standard with a 5 fin set up so you can ride it as a thruster or a quad. Flying Pony is designed for you to enjoy even the poorest conditions and will take your small wave surfing to the next level.’

What people are saying about it:

“The JS Flying Pony is the latest thoroughbred to emerge from the Pony stable, following on from their ridiculously fun Show Pony and Pier Pony models. Now with a double bump and volume re-distributed from tail to chest area – providing more speed/drive, increased paddle power and greater sensitivity under the back foot. Another champion groveler that puts the fun back into riding tiny/mushy waves – without totally sacrificing performance.” – Down The Line

“The JS Flying Pony still maintains it’s prowess as a tiny wave groveler – it easily catches the smallest, weakest of waves – but subtle tweaks to the nose and tail, the foil and bottom contours make this Flying Pony feel much more loose and lively than I remember of the Pier Pony.” – Benny on Compare Surfboards

“Drawbacks and improvements to the model?  Only a couple.  In onshore conditions, the board wasn’t a spectacular standout versus other small wave performance models.  Its clearly most at home in clean pint sized peaks.  And you don’t see many getting around – with many surfers wanting more fun in their small wave surfing these days, JS could really hammer this model as being the summer time go-to solution. All up, I really enjoyed surfing this board, and think its one of the best small wave grovelers on the market.” – Chad Uphill on Boardthought
