Emery The Shadow Review

What the Emery Surfboards site says about The Shadow:

‘This is your new all rounder. Like its namesake, The Shadow will be under your feet and by your side through all conditions.

We’ve given The Shadow a flatter rocker than your standard shortboard to keep you going when the waves are mushy. A deep single concave with a slight vee through the tail helps generate speed, giving you that little bit extra push through those flat sections.

Contradicting this, we’ve thrown in a hip-squash tail, combined with a flat deck, dropping off to a mid-rail which gives you the bite you need when the waves are a little more serious.’

What people are saying about it:

“The Shadow by Emery Surfboards is a perfect summer all-rounder. With a flatter rocker combined with a deep single concave into a slight vee, you will be sailing through the flatter sections and still getting plenty of drive. A hip-squash tail gives you plenty of responsiveness when the waves get bigger.” – Boardcave

“To make things interesting, the Shadow has a Hip Squash Tail, mid rail & a flat deck to step up when waves turn on a little, what we would call a perfect contradiction, the Shadow is a great one board quiver.” – Tradewind Surf

“The Shadow features a slightly flatter rocker than many standard shortboards – this helps you connect sections and keep you going when the waves are mushy. The bottom of the Shadow is a deep single concave that runs through the guts of the board blending into a slight vee through the last bit of the tail. The concave makes this board exceptionally fast, with a lot of acceleration off the mark. The vee helps you maintain control of all that speed and helps you transition from rail to rail seamlessly.” – Zak Surfboards

“The Emery Shadow Surfboard is the perfect all round board. One board to let you rip in all conditions. Like its namesake, The Shadow will be under your feet and by your side through all conditions. Overall the rocker is flatter so you get speed, speed that stays with you through the mush. The bottom features a single concave with a slight vee through the tail, giving you extra push through the weaker, messy and flat sections. Around the front fins a hip brings in the tail so your back foot can charge and bring on changes of direction.” – user manly_surboards on eBay
