The World Surf League (WSL) Men’s Qualifying Series (QS) is ready to kick start on the shores of Virginia Beach, Virginia where the 6th annual Vans Pro Men’s QS3,000 and fifth annual Vans Pro Men’s Junior will commence.

The WSL event will take place alongside the 54th annual East Coast Surfing Championships (ECSC), the longest-running surfing event in North America. The event window is between August 23 – August 28, 2016. A total of 3,000 points are at stake for the QS. Some of the world’s top QS surfers are attending to claim a big win to pull their rankings up.

Taylor Clark (USA) earned the WSL North America event wildcard, alongside Matt Passaquindici (USA). Clark is looking to capitalize on the opportunity to perform well in this
QS event. He already had a win in the East Coast earlier this year in Cocoa Beach, Florida.
Clark is prepared and is posing a serious threat to the top 100 QS surfers. He is currently sitting at the No.1 of the North America ratings. He is keen to maintain that to earn a ticket to the WSL QS10,000 events.

Griffin Colapinto (USA) is building up his momentum in every event. He has taken down some notable surfers at the Vans US Open of Surfing. He is turning 18 at the end of July, and he is facing great opportunity ahead of him where he can grow and improve as a competitive surfer. He will also be competing in the Vans Pro Junior.

Nolan Rapoza (USA) will also face off with Colapinto in both the Vans Pro Men’s QS3,000 and Vans Pro Junior. He keen to achieve his first-ever Junior Tour victory. After a third-place finish at the Vans US Open of Surfing Men’s Junior, he sits under 300 points behind No. 1 ranked Kei Kobayashi (USA). He is looking for the big win in this event.

Trials winner Bo Raynor (USA) has also earned a ticket into the Vans Pro QS3,000 main event, where he will join event wildcards Carlos Munoz (CRI), Aaron Cormican (USA), and local standout Philip Goold (USA).

Event updates are available through, or through the WSL App.
