Thursday, December 1, 2016: A surfer has been attacked by a shark, while surfing at the popular surf break of Seven Mile beach, south of Forster. The victim, identified as Colin Rowland, suffered puncture wounds to his arm and foot. He was lucky to escape the shark attack by swimming to shore.
The shark has snapped the surfboard into pieces. Witnesses on scene recall seeing the victim being tossed up in the air when the shark attacked. A heroic young surfer saved Mr Rowland from another pounding from the shark by pulling him onto his own board and pushing him to shore.
At around 9:20, Thursday morning, Paramedics responded to an emergency call following the attack. The victim was flown via helicopter to John Hunter hospital and is believed to be in a stable condition.
The beach has been closed to the public until further notice. This attack is the latest among a series of shark incidents along the NSW coastline.
