The International Surfing Association’s World Surfing Games 2016 will be hosted by defending champion, Costa Rica. The games will take place between August 6-14, 2016. The event will be held in Jaco Suburb in Garabito district, where 106 out of 238 Zika Virus cases have been recorded.

Despite the virus being rampant in the area, the ISA World Surfing Games is on a green light and teams from Australia, USA, Central and South America and other member countries will compete to take a shot at the championship title for this year.

Thousands of spectators are expected to flock in as the ISA World Surf Games kicks off. Costa Rica team will attempt to defend its Gold Medal this year in their home turf, after winning it last year in Nicaragua.
