August 13, 2016, Kuda Huraa, Maldives: The 2016 Four Seasons Maldives Surfing Champions Trophy has been concluded with Taj Burrow emerging as the new champion. Taj Burrow faced off with last year’s champion, Shane Dorian.
It has been a tough battle for Taj Burrow after winning the semifinal and final of the thruster division. The previous heats have fatigued the Australian pro before coming into the final heat against Shane Dorian. But Burrow put on a show and established an early lead by posting 9.17 and an 8.67 giving him a heat total of 17.84.

Dorian, who was the defending champion put on a clinic with his excellent scores across all three divisions while winning the twin fin division. In the final heat, Dorian’s powerful performance has earned him a 17.33 which was just a little short of Burrow’s final score.
or winning the contest, Burrow earns the US$25,000 prize pot. And the best prize he earned is being invited back to the event next year.
