September 19, 2016 – The International Surfing Association (ISA) has officially announced that France will host the 2017 ISA World Surfing Games, particularly in Biarritz. The top notch National Surfing teams of the World will be meeting to compete for Gold in the 2017 ISA World Surfing Games in what will be the first time the World Surfing Games is hosted in Europe since 2008.
The event, set to run on may 2017 will bring together National Surfing Teams from all over the globe to compete for Gold in the ISA Flagship event. Biarritz, located on the southwest coast of France, is a world-renowned surfing destination.
The last time ISA World Surfing Games ran in Biarritz was in 1980, where the Legend Tom Curren (USA), has launched his successful surfing career by winning the Gold Medal in the Junior Division.
The World Surfing Games has been held in different countries in the recent years. It continues to gain popularity especially now that the sport has been officially added to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
