Filipe Toledo grabbed his second Vans US Open of Surfing Title, Sunday July 31, 2016 at Huntington Beach. He concluded the Men’s qualifying series in a fashionable manner. Toledo exhibited his great skills in small wave maneuvers, his rail surfing was key to achieving the results he aimed for at the event. He showed his vicious surfing in his last three heats.
Toledo has outperformed Michel Bourez, Kanoa Igarashi, and Ethan Ewing in order to win the Vans US Open title for the second time.
The Brazilian Pro did not have to attend the Vans US Open event with him climbing all the way back in the Championship Tour rankings after his injury earlier in the season. But he was determined to ensure his ticket and avoid repeating the same shortfall last year when he lacked less than a tenth of a point to qualify.
Toledo went all out and he was able to establish himself in a pedestal as one of the best, if not the best small wave surfer in the world today.
